With the current NBA season being one of the craziest to date, I’ve decided to hop on NBA 2K22 and simulate the rest of the season. In this simulation, I will stop at the upcoming All-Star break and the end of the regular season. I will go through standings, award leaders, and any significant events like trades, signings, injuries, or firings/hirings. After the regular season, I will simulate each round of the playoffs until the NBA finals are over. Let’s get started!
The NBA Right Now
Current Standings
Today is Monday, January 3rd. The Chicago Bulls and the Golden State Warriors sit at the top of their respective conferences. It looks like the Cavaliers and the Grizzlies are still performing better than expected, with Cleveland in 5th in the East and Memphis in 4th in the West. On the other hand, teams like the Celtics and the Lakers are not living up to expectations.
Current Award Races
The leader for each category is James Harden for MVP, Ricky Rubio for Sixth-Man of the Year, Rudy Gobert for Defensive Player of the Year, and Miles Bridges for Most Improved Player of the Year. The rookie stats for this season are unavailable because the crazy amount of players coming in from the G-League has messed up the game’s ability to compile stats for the rookie class.

Standings
It is now February 10th, 2022. The standings stay pretty much the same besides some minor changes. The Bucks moved up to the first spot in the east, and the Warriors stayed winning with the best record in the league at 41-15. The Eastern Conference playoff teams are the Bucks, Bulls, Nets, 76ers, Heat, Wizards, Cavaliers, and the Hornets. The Western Conference playoff teams are the Warriors, Suns, Jazz, Grizzlies, Maves, Lakers, Nuggets, and Timberwolves.
Award Races
The MVP race is now led by last season’s MVP, Nikola Jokic. Jokic is followed by LeBron James, James Harden, and Stephen Curry. Andre Drummond is currently favored for Sixth-Man of the Year with Kevin Love, Isaiah Hartenstein, and Tyus Jones behind him. In an interesting turn of events, Paul George leads the Defensive Player of the Year race. He is in front of Rudy Gobert, Myles Turner, and Jrue Holiday. Now for Most Improved Player of the Year, Wendell Carter Jr. leads with Jalen Brunson, Darius Garland, and Dejounte Murray trailing.

Trades
Some interesting trades happened leading up to the trade deadline this season. The first trade was between the New York Knicks and the Portland Trail Blazers. The Knicks traded away Kemba Walker and Taj Gibson for Nassir Little and Robert Covington. The second trade involved The Houston Rockets and the Dallas Mavericks. The Maves gave the Rockets Dwight Powell in exchange for Eric Gordon and Armoni Brooks. The last big trade was between the Golden State Warriors and the Charlotte Hornets. The Hornets received Miles Bridges and Nick Richards and gave away Moses Moody and Damion Lee.
