With the Boston Celtics clinching a spot in the Eastern Conference Semifinals after defeating the Miami Heat 4-1 in the first-round series, A lot of questions need to be addressed in the preview of their next playoff round. With this, one of Boston’s best Performers throughout the first-round series was Derrick White. Can he be an X factor during the entire postseason?
Offensive Dominance
During the first five games of this 2024 NBA postseason, Derrick White had an Outstanding performance across the board, but especially offensively. Whether the Celtics needed to maintain, extend, or simply diversify their offensive chances, White could rise to the occasion and become a central piece for Celtic Success. Also, he had absolutely no problem with being a supportive player in the starting five, or taking the spotlight and carrying the offensive unit, especially throughout the last games of the series.
Playoff Averages So Far (Per Game)
22.4 Points, 3.6 Rebounds, 3.2 Assists, 1.0 Blocks, 57.7 FG%, 47.7 3P%, 90 FT%
Regardless of whether the series was close or not, Derrick White maintained extreme efficiency in all three departments, with solid decision-making. Additionally, the fast-paced-momentum he can create out of nowhere can be of prime importance in deciding games.
It will all boil down to how he can behave in high-pressure situations. However, it is still unknown what team can put up a 7-game series against Boston. So far, they have shown nothing but dominance throughout the ENTIRE year, and the first round was no exception.
All in all, White can definitely be a decisive factor for a deep playoff run, reliable to take the wheel when it matters most. Currently, the Boston Celtics are waiting for the winner in the first-round matchup between the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Orlando Magic. Who is your favorite to take the NBA title?
