The Media follows many unfair one way narratives, so today, we are going to go over the two most misconstrued NBA players.
Russell Westbrook
It is time we should respect this elite point guard. He has been hated on in this league for way too long, and now that the lakers are struggling, he is blamed for it. There are tons of reasons why the Lakers are struggling so much currently. The biggest one is because Anthony Davis cannot stay healthy, and that is their second or third best player behind Lebron. The list can go on and on, but Russell Westbrook is not one of the reasons at the top. Russell Westbrook deserves just a small amount of hate, if any, because of his lack of adaption to a team where he is not a first option. The NBA world has seen time and time again that when Westbrook isn’t the man who always has the ball in his hands, determining the play the team makes, the team won’t succeed.
Kyrie Irving
Somehow another extremely good guard finishes off the short list, and it is very obvious. People begin to disagree with Kyrie’s spiritual beliefs, and his opinions on vaccines, yet somehow those beliefs come in to opinions on how he plays. After a Nets all time scoring high on Tuesday night, the man can no longer be hated. He should never be hated, this is just another statement on why, dropping 60 against the magic, and 41 points in the first half. To put this crazy stat into perspective, that is the 4th most scored points in the first half of all time. Kyrie has shown time and time again of how good he is. Other debates are whether he is a “toxic” player in the locker room, but there have been many examples of players and coaches that have shown how strong this Nets team is in the locker room.
These elite point guards are heavily hated on for many reasons, but to end it off, many people come from the side of comparing them to such amazing players, current and all time, that we all forget just how good these players are, just being compared to other greats of the game.
