Maybe it’s a bit early since the NBA playoffs aren’t over yet… but who doesn’t love trades? Trades are a huge part of the NBA offseason and can make or break teams in certain situations. Some moves can propel a team to the playoffs or contention or another can move a team to boost a rebuilding process. Let’s get into NBA trades that we’d like to see occur this offseason…
Hornets Trade for Gobert
Charlotte Hornets Receive: Rudy Gobert
Utah Jazz Receive: Gordon Hayward, PJ Washington, Kai Jones and 15th pick in 2022 draft
Honestly, I believe this trade makes a lot of sense for both sides. The Hornets need an inside presence desperately and getting Gobert a defensive stopper and a lob threat for Ball would be a great move for the franchise. The Jazz get back Hayward to pair with Donovan Mitchell and also young bigs in Washington and Jones and also a top 15 pick in this year’s draft.
The Jazz are willing to move on from Gobert and I think they honestly should. They’ve been very stagnant as a franchise and have not made any moves in the postseason. It’s time they make a splash and get some assets for Rudy Gobert while they can.
Pelicans Get Their Starting PG
New Orleans Pelicans Receive: Malcolm Brogdon
Indiana Pacers receive: Larry Nance Jr., Naji Marshall, Garrett Temple, and 8th pick in 2022 draft
The Pelicans could use a starting point guard that has a veteran presence to the locker room. Altholugh I loved the trade of getting CJ McCollum, they need someone to also run the offense. When healthy, Brogdon is a really good scorer in this league that can give you 20 and 7 a night. Not only that, he’s an efficient scorer that can shoot and make plays for others as well. Pairing him with McCollumn and also having Brandon Ingram and Zion with Valencunias, the Pelicans would be a dangerous team.
This trade makes sense for the Pacers as they get some assets they could trade off, but also another top 10 pick to get a young player like potentially a Keegan Murray, Tari Eason, Benedict Mathurin, etc. They’re able to trade away Brogdon to give Halliburton the keys to the franchise and also get another young prospect on the team.
Nets Get Some Frontcourt Help
Brooklyn Nets Receive: Christian Wood and Garrison Matthews
Houston Rockets Receive: Joe Harris, 23rd pick in 2022 draft and 2023 2nd round pick
The Nets need a presence on the offensive end in their frontcourt other than Kevin Durant. Getting Christian Wood who’s capable of shooting, scoring inside, and also being a solid defender would be a steal. Although losing Joe Harris might hurt a bit, I’m sure they’ll find another shooter in free agency to replace some of that production (not to mention Seth Curry as well).
The Rockets do this as they’re a rebuilding team and they’re able to get anothoer young asset in this trade with the 23rd pick to potentially get more young prospects to pair with Jalen Green and Kevin Porter Jr as well.
