Jrue Holiday is one of the more intriguing players to look out for this upcoming offseason. A lot of playoff teams and championship contenders are looking at Holiday as someone to try to acquire from the New Orleans Pelicans. Jrue Holiday is arguably one of the best perimeter defenders in the league if not the best and brings a sense of leadership and scoring ability from the guard position.
Some teams that should definitely look to trade for Jrue Holiday are…
Brooklyn Nets
The Nets could be an ideal landing spot for Jrue Holiday. He can join a team with championship aspirations with KD and Kyrie. He would fit in immediately as the 3rd star for the Brooklyn Nets and take over defending the top perimeter player on a team or guarding the opponent’s point guard instead of Kyrie Irving. Not saying Kyrie is a terrible defender or anything, but Jrue is literally the best or one of the best.
He would definitely be the player to add if the Nets were looking to trade for a 3rd star. He could relieve scoring duties sometimes if Kyrie or KD aren’t feeling it one night. He’s definitely capable after averaging 19.1 PPG last season. The Nets allow Jrue Holiday to be on a championship contending team immediately and compete for a playoff team.
Los Angeles Clippers
The Los Angeles Clippers are a team that is probably going to look into trading for Jrue Holiday. They were bragging about having the two of the best perimeter defenders in the league already… let’s add Jrue to the equation? Kidding… PG13 would probably have to include in this trade for it to work for both teams. Looking at it honestly though… that wouldn’t be a TERRIBLE idea for the Clippers.
Getting Holiday gives the Clippers an off-ball player that doesn’t require the ball to score or to be effective. If the Clippers do need Holiday to handle the ball, he’d be able to take over point guard duties as he’s averaged around 7 assists per game the past few years which is pretty solid actually. The Clippers have been in need of a point guard and Kawhi has excelled when he’s had a good one always. Whether it was Tony Parker or Kyle Lowry, Kawhi was his best with an All-star level point guard.
Indiana Pacers
The Indiana Pacers are definitely an under the radar destination for Jrue Holiday. He has his two brothers that played for the Indiana this past year in Aaron and Justin Holiday. Justin Holiday is a free agent but if Jrue comes to Indiana, he’d definitely look to come back as well to be with his two other brothers. Imagine all three brothers on one team… Lavar Ball is somewhere crying. The Pacers are a good playoff team with two All-stars in Victor Oladpo and Domantas Sabonis and T.J. Warren who’s looking to take the next step as well.
Jrue Holiday could be included in a trade package that includes Myles Turner and running a 3-guard lineup with Malcolm Brogdon/Victor Oladipo/Jrue Holiday could definitely be interesting to watch. The Pacers might look to trade Myles Turner this offseason if they can find the right value and Jrue would provide that. Jrue would be able to go to a playoff team and play with his two brothers, something a lot of players cannot say they did.
