There’s been a lot of trade rumors surrounding Victor Oladipo recently. Reports have come out that the Rockets are willing to trade the 2x All Star since he’s on an expiring contract. This makes a lot of sense for the Rockets as Oladipo is most likely to not re-sign and they might as well get assets for him while they can.
I think there’s a huge chance Oladipo gets traded before the trade deadline and the Rockets would be smart to. Let’s get into some trade destinations that the Rockets can explore for him…
#1 Miami Heat
I mean this is inevitable… right? The Miami Heat has been on Victor Oladipo’s radar for a while it seems like and this is probably the best spot for him. The Heat would probably have to part with Duncan Robinson, Kelly Olynyk, and some contract fillers to make it happen, but it won’t cost much. With this, the Heat can make their push to the playoffs this season and see what they have in a big 3 of Jimmy Butler, Bam Adebayo, and now Victor Oladipo.
Oladipo gives them another scorer and player that can defend the perimeter. Oladipo has been kind of inconsistent this season on the shooting side of the ball, but he will always give you solid defense. I think this trade is a win-win for both teams.
Possible trade: Rockets get: Duncan Robinson, Andre Iguodala, Kelly Olynyk, Heat get: Victor Oladipo & P.J. Tucker
#2 Milwaukee Bucks
If you’re the Bucks… why not? Put another star next to Giannis. A big 4 of Jrue Holiday, Victor Oladipo, Khris Middleton, and Giannis Antetokounmpo is intriguing as hell. Not only can all of them score, they all play defense at a high level. If the Bucks want to make a serious push for the Finals this season, I think they should explore a trade for Oladipo. It might cost them Donte DiVincenzo and some contract fillers, not too much. Oladipo is an expiring contract after all.
Rockets still get some assets for a player that is most likely to leave them anyways, while the Bucks get another star player to put around Giannis Antetokounmpo.
Possible trade: Rockets get: Donte DiVincenzo, Brook Lopez, and DJ Wilson, Bucks get: Victor Oladipo
#3 Denver Nuggets
I feel like I’ve mentioned the Denver Nuggets a trade destination for a lot of these trade destination articles and well… for a good reason. Although the Nuggets are sitting at the #4 seed right now, I still think they need some help. They need another scorer and someone that can play perimeter defense really well. Enter in, Victor Oladipo.
Oladipo would create a nasty backcourt duo with Jamal Murray. Oladipo can play off the ball or on the ball, either works for him. Oladipo can cut and get open from passes from Nikola Jokic or slash through the inside with his savvy moves. I think a big 4 of Jamal Murray, Victor Oladipo, Michael Porter Jr., and Nikola Jokic could be very enticing to watch and definitely a team to watch out for in the West.
Possible trade: Rockets get: Gary Harris & 2nd rounder, Nuggets get: Victor Oladipo
