The Center position is undergoing the most changes in current NBA basketball. Versatility in both ends of the court is what every single modern center needs. While every team has already developed their system surrounding their fives, thinking outside the box is what makes a good “big man” from an elite one. What players might have a breakout 23-24 NBA season and reach their full potential? Let us find out.
Kevon Looney
Despite him already being crucial for his team, the Golden State Warriors, Looney simply does not stop improving in every aspect of his game, particularly footwork, paint scoring, and rebounding. Without him, the Warriors would be an entirely different team, with fewer odds of making a title run over the past years. Therefore, Looney has every chance of having yet another breakout season, showing his true value in the organization.
23-24 Stat Prediction: 9.0 PPG, 10.1 RPG, 3.1 APG
Myles Turner
Although he has become one of the best perimeter defenders in the league, with incredible mobility, Turner can still reach his full potential this next season. Offensively, his team does need him to show up when matters most. Providing he improves his shot selection and overall effectiveness, he will be a much more dangerous player across the board, increasing his value and helping the Indiana Pacers clinch a postseason seed.
23-24 Stat Prediction: 19.1 PPG, 8.5 RPG, 1.8 APG
Jarrett Allen
About to begin his seventh NBA season, Jarrett Allen seems to have fit pretty well with the best-defending team in the league, the Cleveland Cavaliers. He is already a crucial piece for his team below the rim on both sides of the court and has shown constant improvement as the Cavs’ starting center. However, we can see his athleticism play a huge role in his development in his position, ultimately having a breakout season and utilizing all of his resources to master his game.
23-24 Stat Prediction: 16.0 PPG, 10.1 RPG, 2.3 APG
These three excellent players are all full of potential ahead of the start of the 23-24 NBA season. While many other “big men” can enter the list, Allen, Looney, and Turner have all strong arguments to be here, leaving us with a lot of excitement and anticipation for their development as centers.
