Continuing with our top-ranking series, it is now time to rank the best six starting 5s in this upcoming season. Since the league is looking more competitive than ever ahead of the start of this new basketball year, it is more difficult to compare and rank the best rosters within it. Nevertheless, we did rank the potential best six groups, at least on paper, for the 23-24 NBA season.
6. Golden State Warriors
While they no longer have the best roster in the league, the Warriors’ golden days are not over just yet. Three crucial players of what once was the best team in NBA history are still capable of performing at the highest level, especially Stephen Curry.
Now, with the acquisition of Chris Paul, the team is improving playmaking and ball movement even more, as well as bench depth when it comes to the frontcourt. Not to mention their ever-improving players, like Andrew Wiggins, Jonathan Kuminga, Gary Payton II, and one of the most underrated players in the league, Kevon Looney.
5. Los Angeles Lakers
The Lakers had nothing short of an incredible off-season in terms of player selection. Signing and extending players such as Austin Reaves, Rui Hachimura, Jaxon Hayes, Cam Reddish, and Gabe Vincent, will be of incredible help to their superstar James-Davis duo and achieve more consistency throughout the regular season, thus securing a higher seed to make their playoff run.
In an ever-competitive Western Conference, this Laker team has every chance of having a fruitful, prolific season.
4. Phoenix Suns
Despite being completely different when compared to their 2021 Western Conference Championship team, Phoenix does not seem to back down on the idea of winning the NBA 23-24 Title. Devin Booker, Bradley Beal, and Kevin Durant will undoubtedly be the leaders of this project, with tremendous offensive strength.
Contrary to popular belief, their supporting players are pretty solid across the board. Pieces such as Yuta Watanabe, Eric Gordon, Damion Lee, Grayson Allen, and Josh Okogie, to name a few, provide immense value to the Valley team on both ends of the court.
3. Boston Celtics
Boston needs to prove why they are one of the best teams in the NBA today. A championship run is what this group desperately needs since they have failed to close playoff series over the recent years.
Fortunately, their chances of making it far this season have not decreased at all, which means their previous experience will be of great use to clinch a solid seed and improve their postseason performance. Additionally, Jrue Holiday and Kristaps Porzingis will make a positive impact on them, especially on the perimeter defense and offensive versatility.
2. Denver Nuggets
Regardless of the Denver Nugget franchise being the reigning NBA champions, they can still prove their dominion as a team, with the potential of becoming a basketball dynasty.
While this can be an arduous task that very few teams have achieved throughout history, the Nuggets have every tool to make it happen. If done correctly, Nikola Jokic can be the leader of a multi-championship era within the organization, alongside the impressive players around him.
1. Milwaukee Bucks
On paper, this team has potentially the best roster in the league. They check nearly every box, if not all of them when it comes to ability, versatility, and overall consistency. While the Bucks may have let go of an incredible defensive point guard in the NBA, Jrue Holiday, they gained one of the top guards in the entire NBA, Damian Lillard. His offensive play style will definitely play a huge role in the team, complementing the team’s franchise player, Giannis Antetokounmpo. We would not be surprised if Milwaukee holds the best record in the league when the season ends.
This NBA 23-24 year is filled with expectation and eagerness. Next week, the tipoff games will involve four of the teams mentioned in this ranking, which leaves us with even more excitement for what is about to come. On October 24th, Lakers @ Nuggets and Suns @ Warriors will kickstart this soon-to-be legendary season.
