For a while now, the NBA has been all about big threes that are the face of an NBA franchise. Whether it’s been Jordan, Pippin, and Rodman or LeBron, Wade, and Bosh… the big 3s of the NBA have been iconic throughout history.
Let’s get into some of the best big threes in the NBA after the 2024 NBA free agency…
1. Boston Celtics: Jayson Tatum/Jaylen Brown/Jrue Holiday or Derrick White or Kristaps Porzingis
They’ve just won a championship and have proven to be the best big 3 in the NBA. Whether you want to slot in Jrue or White or Porzingis, this is the best big three in the NBA with Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown.
Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown have already solidified themselves as arguably the best duo in the NBA, but with their 3rd player being one of three players that are all equally as good? They’re just even more dominant.
2. Philadelphia 76ers: Tyrese Maxey/Paul George/Joel Embiid
Obviously, these three haven’t played together yet, but there’s no doubt in my mind (if they can stay healthy), this trio will make a lot of noise.
They’ve got dominance on all three levels, a guard that can score with the best of them in Tyrese Maxey, a two-way wing star in Paul George, and arguably the most dominant center we’ve seen since Shaq in Joel Embiid.
3. Phoenix Suns: Kevin Durant/Devin Booker/Bradley Beal
This is off of pure scoring talent alone, they’re arguably the best. Everyone knows what KD is capable of, but when you add in two other pure bucket-getters like Booker and Beal? Sheesh.
If they can figure it out on the defensive end, this team will be a problem. Statistically, the Phoenix Sunsx were the worst rebounding team in the 2024 playoffs, the success of this trio will not be on their offensive power, but how they learn to sacrifice and lockdown defensively and crash the glass.
4. Milwaukee Bucks: Damian Lillard/Giannis Antetokounmpo/Khris Middleton
I believe the Bucks could’ve made some noise if Giannis stayed healthy this past playoffs. They’ve got all the experience collectively with Giannis and Khris already winning a chip. Adding in Dame’s ability to take over games late and make big plays in the playoffs, they would’ve 100% given the Celtics a proper fight.
After having a full training camp together (Dame was traded to the Bucks 2-3 days before it started last offseason) to prepare, this trio should make some waves.
5. Dallas Mavericks: Luka Doncic/Kyrie Irving/Klay Thompson
Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving played extremely well last season together, averaging nearly 60 points a game together and taking the Mavericks to the Conference Finals. Although they were unable to complete the job, they showed that they’re more than capable of being a championship duo. Now adding Klay Thompson who’s got a championship pedigree with 4 rings and tons of experience in big moments… a perfect addition.
I’m not saying Klay Thompson is going to back to his prime being one of the best two-way wings in the league, but if he can play some solid defense and keep making his shots, the Mavericks should scare everyone in the West.
