Is Paul George Back to Being a Superstar?

With his playoff struggles in the NBA bubble, many fans and players questioned his ability on the court. Clippers guard Paul George said he was coming back “with vengeance” in the 2020 -2021 season, and that “people saw weakness” in him.

In the 1st game of the season against the Lakers, Paul George dropped 33 points, 13-18 from the field, and was 5-8 from 3 point range. He was very efficient in that game, but many fans are still not buying into what he was saying. During the Suns game, Sun’s SG Devin Booker called Paul Goerge out.

After that scuffle between Devin Booker and Paul George, PG ended the game with 39 points, 15-24 FG (62.5%), and was 7-10 from the 3 point line. After the game in an interview, he said “a lot of chirping and people are still stuck in the past.”

This season, Paul George has been balling out. He is averaging 24.8 ppg with 5 assists and 6 rebounds. He is also having career highs at shooting, having 51% from the field, 51% from 3 point range, and 92.35% from the free-throw line.

Before this season, Paul George told his teammates that he was going to return to the form that put him in 3rd place in the MVP race in the 2018-19 season on the Thunder.

Clippers forward Marcus Morris Sr. said “Paul is playing at a high level right now. I feel as the he’s having an MVP season and he told us that before the year started, that he was gonna come with it.”

Right now, Paul George is proving his doubters wrong. The Clippers are 9-4 and 2nd in the West only behind their hometown rivals in the Lakers. Paul George slowly looking like the partner in crime that Kawhi had envisioned when he asked PG13 to join him in LA.
