Can the Philadelphia 76ers Make a Title Run Next Season?

The Philadelphia 76ers have been on the brink of winning it all for a while now. They’ve consistently been one of the top teams in the Eastern Conference, but somehow, that has always failed to mean anything. So, as the new season approaches, the question is: Can the Sixers finally make a legitimate title run and perform well in the Playoffs?

Embiid + Maxey: The Duo They Really Need?

Joel Embiid is, without question, the heart and soul of this team. The former NBA MVP is a dominant force in the paint who can take over games on both ends of the floor, but has performed questionably when it matters most.

Then there’s Tyrese Maxey, who has developed into a quick sharpshooting guard who can put up a show when needed, managing to deserve a starting spot in the roster. But what really shakes things up for the Sixers this year is the addition of Paul George.

Paul George’s Effect + Great Additions

Bringing in George gives Philly another elite two-way player, someone who can score at all levels and lock down opposing stars in nearly all positions. His presence takes some of the pressure off Embiid and adds a new layer to their offense.

However, Paul George’s injuries and age may be a subject of concern when trying to predict the team’s future. Nevertheless, he is still an excellent player who might be the missing piece for the success of the 76ers. On top of that, pieces such as Eric Gordon and Caleb Martin are bound to be of great help for the squad.

Is Nick Nurse a Good Choice?

The hiring of Nick Nurse as head coach also brought a fresh perspective this last season. Known for his defensive schemes and adaptability, Nurse could be the perfect fit to unlock this team’s potential if everything goes well.

With a lineup that has both veteran leadership and youthful energy, the Sixers have the makings of a championship contender. If they can find their rhythm early and build chemistry, the potential is certainly there.

Stiff Competition

But let us not ignore the setbacks. The Eastern Conference is stacked with talent. The Bucks and Celtics, even the Knicks, Pacers and Heat aren’t going anywhere, and every playoff series is going to be a battle. Plus, as mentioned, health is always a concern.

Both Embiid and George have had their share of injuries, and if either goes down, it could derail the Sixers’ hopes, just like the previous years.

76ers Current Roster:

N. Batum, A. Bona, R. Council IV, R. Covington, J. Dowtin, A. Drummond, J. Edwards, J. Embiid, P. George, E. Gordon, D. Jones, K. Lowry, C. Martin, K. Martin Jr., T. Maxey, J. McCain, K. Oubre Jr., T. Smith, D. Wilson

All things considered, the could have a real shot at making a title run this season. The addition of Paul George, combined with Embiid’s dominance and Nurse’s coaching, gives them a new dynamic.

If they can stay healthy and put it all together, this could finally be the year that Philadelphia breaks through and competes for the championship they’ve been chasing for 8 years with “The Process”.
