The NBA season has been a full on go now for now over a month. The regular season started 2-3 weeks ago and we’re slowly getting an idea for some teams and players. Some players and teams have been surprising and a lot of them have been disappointing so far…
Let’s get into the biggest NBA disappointments so far…
3. Kelly Oubre Jr.
Kelly Oubre Jr. has been just awful to start the season. He’s averaging 10 points per game on 33.3% from the field and an absolutely terrible 13.3% from three point land. No one thought Kelly Oubre Jr. would be able to take over Klay’s scoring ability and shooting ability, but they expected him to be a good second fiddle to Steph Curry at the least.
Warriors are currently being carried by Steph Curry and his elite shooting ability. Kelly Oubre Jr. has been a negative more than a positive in this season so far. I definitely think he will improve his stats and get closer to the 42% range from the field and low 30% from 3, but he’s definitely been one of the biggest disappointments so far this season.
2. Toronto Raptors (2-7)
The Raptors have been one of the biggest disappointments as a team in the NBA so far. No one was saying they were going to be the #1 seed or anything, but many expected them to at least stay in the conversation for a top 4 seed.
They are currently 2-7 and ranked 13th in the Eastern Conference, with the Pistons and Wizards only being worse than them. Siakam hasn’t looked that good and the Raptors just don’t look the best right now without Serge Ibaka & Marc Gasol not on the team anymore. I still think they’re going to end up with the 7th-8th seed, but they’re going to need to step it up soon.
1. Washington Wizards (2-8)
The Washington Wizards were a key team to watch for this season in the Eastern conference. As of right now, they’re looking like the biggest disappointment in the league so far. I’m not saying they should be Finals contenders this season or anything, but they definitely should not be the worst team in the Eastern conference (#15th seed).
Although the offense looks good (119.7 PPG which is 2nd in the league), their defense just looks horrendous (allowing 122.7 PPG which is worst in the league). They have no plus defenders on that team, not a single one. I honestly think for them to make the playoffs, they’re going to need to make a trade for a defensive piece in the starting lineup. They have great offensive players, but no individual defenders.
