Following up with a series of the best teams in the NBA Right now, it is the turn of arguably the best team in the league: The Cavs. With a flawless record of 14 wins and zero losses, the Cavaliers are slowly but surely managing to have a historic season for the franchise. Why are they having such a performance boost?
Offense and Defense
Surprisingly, the Cleveland Cavaliers have one of, if not the best offenses in the NBA right now, they are first in total points per game with 123.4, winning more than half of their games by a double-digit margin. Additionally, their entire starting five is averaging more than 12 points per game, which denotes an extremely well-balanced offensive squad. On top of that, the duo Mobly-Allen has been phenomenal on the defensive side as well, protecting the rim and the perimeter.
Donovan Mitchell
His basketball level has been on fire this season. Even underrated at some point, as he is nowhere to be found in the MVP rankings so far, and he definitely deserves to be on the list, at least in the top five. As the leader of the Cavs, Spida has lived up to and exceeded the expectations, allowing his team to climb to the tallest part of the league right now, even more than the current champions, the Boston Celtics, and the best team in the West, the Oklahoma City Thunder.
So far, Donovan Mitchell is averaging 24.6 points 4.4 rebounds, and 4.1 assists per game, with very effective percentages with 46.9% on the field goal and 42.1% on the three-point.
Cleveland Cavaliers Full Roster:
Jarrett Allen, Emoni Bates, Darius Garland, Ty Jerome, Caris LeVert, Sam Merrill, Donovan Mitchell, Evan Mobley, Georges Niang, Isaac Okoro, Craig Porter Jr., Max Strus, Tristan Thompson, JT Thor, Luke Travers, Jaylon Tyson, Dean Wade.
Potential limitations
Again, the potential setback this team could have is the playoffs. Since that is another type of basketball, the Cavaliers need to work on their playoff strategy if they want to advance past the first or second round. That is the most asked question for this team, hopefully, they can respond and level up to this expectation of them in the playoffs, regardless if they keep the first seat in the east or not.
