Abe’s Big Game Slate Vol. #1

Welcome one, welcome all to the new series brought to you by part time sports writer, part time vigilante of the night, Abraham Chao! This week is bringing us a lot of big games, but the purpose of this series ladies and gentlemen, is to predict, preview, and cover the BIGGEST AND BEST GAME OF THE WEEK!

Before we get started, here’s some things to note:

  1. This will be a once a week series. Like I said, the articles will cover the biggest game of that week for NFL and for CFB.
  2. There will be a companion video/podcast that will be posted along with these articles, so make sure to check those out too.
  3. These opinions are not the right opinions, they’re just my opinions… SO BRING IT ON (I will die defending my position)!!!

NFL Game of the Week: Bills @ Ravens

Matchups between two top five quarterbacks are ALWAYS must watch football. Just like most, this one is going to come down to one thing. Who’s defense can put the offense if a better situation? Let’s start to look at the tale of the tape.

The Ravens are 1-1 against the Bills since Lamar Jackson has been given control of the offense. Their last clashing of heads came in the form of a 23-20 Bills victory after the Ravens choked the game away, going scoreless in the second half.

Here’s the interesting thing. So far to this point in the season (at the time this article is being written), the Ravens and Bills are practically tied in total defense (Ravens at 15 and Bills at 16). Where the differences lie however is in the individual defense statistics.

The Ravens are the WORST passing defense in the league, while they are number one in the league when it comes to defense against the run.

This brings us to the weekly segment that will be conducted for both the NFL and CFB…

For my impact players of the week, I will be selecting a offensive and defensive player for BOTH teams playing.

With that being said, this weeks Impact Players of the Week are…

The keys for Buffalo are simple. Keep the foot on the gas pedal of this explosive offense. Get Josh Allen going early and have him keep the ball out of harm’s way like he’s been doing so far this season. As for Baltimore, use the Lamar and Derick Henry combo to ware out the Buffalo defense quick and often. Defensively, hope that Marlon Humphrey and crew can force Allen into some errors and create turnovers.

CFB Game of the Week: #2 Georgia @ #4 Alabama

This clash of the titans is one that is looking to be one of the best games of the year. While the Bulldogs have had a rough time with the Crimson Tide over the years, they have shown they can put together a game plan to beat them when it matters most.

The problem for the Bulldogs this time around will be their rushing attack. What was supposed to be one of the best and most developed rushing attacks in the country currently doesn’t even rank in the top 80 in that category.

On the bright side however, this Crimson Tide defense has not looked to be the most elite in the country, especially in the secondary. There were countless instances in Bama’s win against Wisconsin that could have turn the tide in the Badgers’ direction, they just didn’t take advantage of them.

For this reason, I see a very close game, but Georgia is pulling away in the fourth quarter to win by two scores. That brings us to our Impact Players of the Week.

For Georgia, if they can get out to a quick start, really test this unproven Bama secondary, and really get the run game going, this should be a very winnable game for them. It will be interesting to see the advantage that goes the Tide’s way with the game being in Tuscaloosa at night, but I think this is definitely a game that goes the Dawgs way.
