Pressure. Something that can either make or break an NFL players career. This list is going to be going over five players under some heavy pressure in this coming NFL season.
1. Trevor Lawrence
In the 2022-23 season, Trevor Lawrence and the Jacksonville Jaguars exceeded expectations and took a big jump under Doug Pederson. He averaged a career high in completion percentage, rating, yards thrown, and threw for the fewest interceptions in his career.
The following year would not be the next step in the right direction, however. Lawrence would struggle as his touchdown numbers went down, and his interception numbers went up. They would end up posting the same 9-8 record as the year prior, but this time did not have the luxury of making the playoffs. If Lawrence and Pederson can’t put some things together this year, there’s going to have to be some hard conversations.
2. Stefon Diggs
Here’s the thing. Stefon Diggs is an all world receiver still to this day. I truly believe that. HOWEVER, the drama between him and the Bills has left a sour taste in a lot of people’s mouths.
If this next season isn’t an All-Pro campaign, then it might be time to start asking just how much time Diggs has left as a top guy.
3. Daniel Jones
Here’s another easy one. Daniel Jones absolutely HAS to prove to everyone this year that he was worth all the money that the Giants gave him.
If he can’t, we have to look at his contract as one of the worst of all time. With the additions of some minor weapons this off season, it’ll be interesting to see what a healthy Jones can do.
4. Jalen Hurts
Now, this isn’t to say that Jalen Hurts had a BAD year last year. In fact, he was up in both completions and touchdowns, despite a rise in the interception department. HOWEVER, what comes with being a top player in the NFL is the pressure of expected post season success.
After what was the collapse of the Eagles last year, the ENTIRE ORGANIZATION is under pressure to get back to the Super Bowl and proving that they are a team to be feared in the NFC.
5. Bryce Young
Bryce Young’s dreadful rookie year was not entirely his fault. Just look at the entire organization around him. However, his place on this list is justified in that he has so much he has to prove next year.
He has to prove that he was deserving of the number one pick, especially with how CJ Stroud played last year. He has to prove that he belongs in this league and has what it takes to be a franchise quarterback.
