We are approaching the half of the NBA 2023-2024 season. Even though plenty of surprises are left for the remainder of the basketball year, we wanted to make our rankings of the top players in the league by conference. In the West, six players make up the “very best” ranking, with incredible performances thus far. Here they are:
Nikola Jokić – Denver Nuggets
Even though the Serbian superstar may have had some irregular games this season, his unreal appearances have completely shadowed the slight inconsistencies. The amazing playmaking and ridiculous numbers on the majority of his matches with the Denver Nuggets allow him to have a better shot for the MVP this season, granting his team more victories.
2023-24 Stats: 25.5 PPG, 11.8 RPG, 9.2 APG, 56.9 FG%, 1.2 STL
Luka Doncic – Dallas Mavericks
The 24-year-old Mavericks superstar has been more than outstanding this season. Unbelievably, his basketball level has seen a performance boost across the board, especially at what he does best, which is offensive production and playmaking. So far, the Mavs are a much better team all-around than last season.
2023-24 Stats: 33.6 PPG, 8.1 RPG, 9.1 APG, 1.4 STL
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander – Oklahoma City Thunder
The Oklahoma City Thunder’s young superstar is having an MVP-caliber season, not afraid of being in the spotlight, and showing up when it matters most for his team. OKC is currently one of the best teams in the West as a result of his insane, unique playstyle and production on both ends of the court.
2023-24 Stats: 31.5 PPG, 6.0 RPG, 6.4 APG, 54.9 FG%, 2.4 STL
Stephen Curry – Golden State Warriors
Even though the Golden State Warriors are having a horrible season so far, Stephen Curry has proven himself to be one of the best players in this conference individually.
With no sign of even stopping or getting out of his prime numbers, the Warriors need to make serious adjustments before wasting this season’s chance of making it far.
2023-24 Stats: 27.1 PPG, 4.3 RPG, 4.6 APG
Anthony Edwards – Minnesota Timberwolves
As a leader of the Timberwolves, the team with the best record in the Western Conference, there is no reason for him not to be on this list.
The explosive, fast-paced playstyle has allowed Minnesota to dominate pretty much every single opponent on both ends of the court. Providing that he continues to explode his abilities, they have a strong chance of performing well in the playoffs.
2023-24 Stats: 26.2 PPG, 5.3 RPG, 4.9 APG
Kevin Durant – Phoenix Suns
Despite the Phoenix Suns struggling with winning games due to injuries and poor decision-making, KD is delivering an insanely good performance in his role with the team, being, as always, incredibly efficient offensively and making the most in the defensive positions.
2023-24 Stats: 29.6 PPG, 6.4 RPG, 5.9 APG, 52.5 FG%, 47.4 3P%, 1.1 BLK
