Well football fans, the early tampering NFL Free Agency period is among us. This will be a live article, so check back regularly for more free agency news and updates!
Russ to Pittsburgh
Russell Wilson and the Steelers have agreed to a VERY team friendly 1 year $1.21 million dollar deal that gives Pittsburgh what they believe is their missing piece to contending for a Super Bowl. The Denver Broncos will have to pay the remainder of the $37.79 million left on his original deal for the upcoming season.
Grade: A
Baker Sticks Around in Tampa Bay
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have agreed to terms on a 3 year $100M deal with QB Baker Mayfield. With the questionable QB market with Russ off the board, this is a move that will at least keep the franchise from a complete tank, but I’m not entirely sure if Baker is the long term answer at the position.
Grade: B-
D’andre Swift to Chi-Town
The Bears add some big time talent to their RB room by signing D’andre Swift to a 3 year $24M deal, but the injury concerns and pending free agent RB’s really create some questions for this signing. Did they not want to give the kind of money that a Saquon or Josh Jacobs might want? If not, I would’ve liked to see them allocate these funds to more needing positions on the roster, but we’ll see how this plays out.
Grade: C+
Pollard to the Titans
Tony Pollard heads to Tennessee on a 3 year $24M that seemingly answers a big question for Titans fans. Derrick Henry is GONE. This is a pretty good move in my opinion, as I feel that Pollard has more to give than his slightly disappointing 2023-24 campaign.
Grade: B+
Jonathan Greenard to the Vikings
In a move that all but seals up the replacement for Danielle Hunter, Jonathan Greenard agrees to a 4 year $42M deal that adds some talent and youth to the Minnesota defense.
Grade: A-
Chris Jones Stays in KC
Chris Jones stays home on a MASSIVE 5 year $95M deal that makes him the highest payed DT in NFL HISTORY! While I like this move for the Chiefs and believe it was necessary, this takes away from money they would need to spend on guys like L’Jarius Sneed for example.
Grade: B+
Gabe Davis to JAX
The Jaguars have signed WR Gabe Davis to a 3 year $39M deal. This pretty much assures the departure of Calvin Ridley, and adds some sneaky explosiveness and just another weapon around Trevor Lawrence (or Mac Jones?).
Grade: C+
Christian Wilkins to Vegas
Christian Wilkins has come to terms on a GIANT deal that sends him to Vegas for 4 years and $110M. This is a move that pairs Maxx Crosby up with another ELITE Rusher that is sure to give apposing QB’s headaches next year.
Grade: A-
Kirk to the A
That’s right. Kirk Cousins is heading to Atlanta on a 4 year $180M deal that provides some answers that NFL fans are seeking around the country.
- Fields will NOT be going to Atlanta
- The Vikings might be in total rebuild mode.
I really like this fit for the Falcons, however, 180 Million is a lot for a guy who turns 36 during this upcoming season.
Grade: B-
Josh Jacobs to the Pack
Josh Jacobs will be taking his talents to Wisconsin as he’s signed with the Green Bay Packers on a deal (more info to come). This adds fuel to an Aaron Jones cut conspiracy, but adds an elite weapon around blooming QB Jordan Love.
Grade: A+ (until the money is official)
Saquon to Philly
Barkley will sign with the in-division rival Philadelphia Eagles on a 3 year $37.75M deal that will immediately fill the roster gap that D’andre Swift left. Nice addition but I’m interested to see if he can stay healthy and what he looks like next to an elite runner in Jalen Hurts
Grade: B+
Ekeler to Washington
Even with having the most available cap room in the league, the Commanders got a good deal on RB Austin Ekeler, signing him on a 2 year $11.43M deal that will help take the load off of Brian Robinson in the run game. Pretty low risk, high reward move.
Grade: A+
Aaron Jones to the Vikings
Aaron Jones heads to Minnesota on a very friendly 1 year $7M deal that will add depth, experience, and leadership to a room that needs it. I like this move for the Vikings, and I feel as if we might see a revenge season from Jones.
Grade: A
Minshew Mania to Vegas
Vegas adds Gardner Minshew on a 2 year $25M deal that I think is some pretty good value on a QB that showed he had a lot of talent last year. Given that he’ll have an elite WR1 in Davante Adams, I’m excited to see what he can do. Really a low risk high reward singing.
Grade: B+
The King to Baltimore
As a football fan, I LOVE this move. As a Browns fan, why? Just why? In all seriousness though, to get a guy like Henry on a 2 year $16M deal is the best move this team could have made. The options with Lamar and Henry are going to be a sight to behold.
Grade: A++
